during my studies in Marrakesh, a course assignment led me to explore visual elements throughout the city. i became drawn to the houses’ doors, each one carrying interesting patterns and symbols that form a visual language across the medina.
i documented over 100 doors, capturing the geometric designs, metalwork details, and symbolic elements that make each portal unique while contributing to a broader architectural vocabulary.
this project was the base of Biban dial Mrrakch.
this documentation reveals the symbols as a kind of visual alphabet, recurring motifs and patterns that when catalogued together show the underlying design logic of Marrakesh’s built environment.
